More pics, because reasons.

Okay, so yesterday [livejournal.com profile] cairistiona7 was nice enough to give me some tips on photo editing and point me toward pixlr.com, so I've been playing around to see what I can do with a few more of my photos from the zoo trip last week.

Thought I'd try out a b&w effect on this, since I don't think there's a good way to get the color looking good given the lighting.

Really wish I could've gotten a few pictures of these pretty butterflies against a better background, but they were fluttering their wings so quickly that this was the only good chance I had to catch them:

:D I may end up spending way too much time on this.

Also - happy Independence Day to all my American friends!

And happy birthday to Steve Rogers! \o/

Pretty!

How did you get the butterflies to stay still for these closeups? Or do you have a really good zoom on your phone camera?

Thank you!

Heh, I have a terrible zoom on my phone, actually. I haven't found any way I can use it and have anything turn out 90% of the time. The butterflies were the most perfect situation for a noob photographer, though - the zoo has a gorgeous butterfly garden. So there were just a ton of them sitting and sunning themselves. They didn't much care about people, so as long as you didn't move too fast you could get up within a foot or two of them without disturbing them.

Pixlr will definitely suck up your time faster than you realize! *g* But it's fun, isn't it?? I like what you did to your photos.

Yay for Steve Rogers' birthday! And yay USA! (Okay, a day late but oh well...)

It is so fun! The hardest part can be figuring out when you need to stop and call something good. There are just far too many options. XD (I love their blemish removal tool. On the picture with the dark butterflies there were a couple of distracting hairs or bits of plant or something that were bugging me, and I was impressed by how well it smoothed them out.)

Hey, it's always a good day to cheer Steve Rogers and the USA. ;D (Yeah, I'm still wearing my Captain America shield shirt today, 'cause I didn't wind up going out anywhere yesterday...)
