Thirty. Thousand. Words. I did it. I have never written that much in a month, ever. Longest story I've written was just over 30,000 words - and that one took me about six months. Not that that was necessarily the only thing I wrote on during that time, but yeah. So happy! :D
 
Heheh, I actually came surprisingly close to not making it at the last minute, though. Today and yesterday I was pretty much fighting every step of the way, with absolutely no motivation, and grinding out those words was painful. Although, surprisingly, I actually do really like what I got done. And I got through several really tough spots in the story, too! (Heh, which, yes, could have a leetle something to do with my lack of eagerness to get at it. :P) If it hadn't been for the knowledge that falling less than 2,500 words short of the goal at that point in the game would be well and truly pathetic... 

I am just really pleased with the overall progress I managed, though. 

- Over half of what I did was on my original story. Unlikely I'll actually be able to use any of it without major re-writing, to say the least, but for the sheer amount of ideas generated and pages of notes I got down? Oh yes, jumping in blindly proved far more worthwhile than I'd expected.

- Got some progress in on the story for cirtholien. Not as much as I'd have liked, really, but it's moving along. :3

- LOTR stuff! :D The post-ROTK one is fuuun. I suspect I'm gonna have to ruthlessly cut a whole lot from the beginning, though, lest potential readers die of boredom. Dialogue tends to give me stage fright, and so I procrastinate by writing Much Introspection. XP Now the Aragorn-with-the-Rangers one? That's coming more slowly, but I'm really liking what's there so far. At any rate, it's the kind of story I'd really like to read, so that tends to be a good sign? Here's hoping it continues to go smoothly!

- The Temeraire-NCIS story. Remember way back when I posted about that dream I had? Well, believe it or not I've been working on the story off and on since then, though it kept getting set aside in favor of other projects. This last week I managed to get past a bunch of difficult spots that I've been hung up on for a while. I think I'm actually nearly at the point where I've done all the necessary development and just need to decide what else I feel like playing around with to wrap up the story properly. Yay! 

Also got a bit of arty stuff done recently, so I think I'll post a handful of pics while I'm here. ^.^

Although the majority of my most recent writing progress has been on fanficcy stuff, I have done a few more sketches of some of the various creatures from my original stuff. 

Did some more doodles of various bat-dragons. One on the left's rather meh overall, but I do like the expression. And I really like the way the baby came out. :3 



Possible appearance for a less-than-friendly lizardy type. Kinda a super-chameleon.



A fisher cat. Somewhat similar to actual fishing cats, but closer to servals in appearance. (Yes, apparently I like animals with long legs and long tails. XD)  




And lookit! I finally drew a snarly face that doesn't look completely warped! *bounces* Actual ability to tell what species it's supposed to be's more iffy (it was gonna be one of the nasty types I did earlier), but hey, I'm still happy.





Tomorrow - time to start catching up on the other things I haven't been keeping up/commenting on lately. *g*

LOL, I was actually gonna post the prologue from my Aragorn-with-the-Rangers one (it's rather expanded beyond the little one-shot I was expecting) this afternoon. Buuut then I started reading it, and had a sudden bout of acute self-consciousness instead. >.< I'm gonna try to post it this evening yet, though. Heh.

The bit you just posted of HoM was so good. I'm looking forward to when you're able to start posting the whole thing! :D

And isn't it funny how one-shots will grow into monsters sometimes?? I intended my current WIP to be a drabble.

Yay, congrats on reaching 30,000 words! *throws confetti* Your stories sound very interesting, both the LotR stories and the Temeraire story - I just wish I knew anything about NCIS! ;-) I guess I'll have to do some googling.

I love your new pics! Mr. Snarly Face is very impressive! *backs away slowly* I think my favourites are the bat dragons this time - they're such a nice mixture of cute and exotic. *g*

Thank you! *bouncy* Hehe, Temeraire and NCIS is such a bizarre combination, I'm kind of wondering whether I'll be able to find many people interested in reading it. *g* When I do start posting it, though, I'll try to make sure I provide enough pictures and explanations of the various NCIS characters to make it comprehensible to those who aren't fans. ;D

Hee, I'm so glad you like the pictures! I have become terribly fond of my little bat-dragons... Sometimes I get the best ideas for creatures from dreams, and they're ones that came out particularly clearly the first time I tried to draw them. :3 (Which reminds me, I had one the other night that I need to try sketching out...)

Wheee, I am so happy for you! What a fantastic accomplishment! *tosses confetti* And I can't wait to see anything you feel is post-able. (And I hope I will have you comments on the Trel story sometime soon...hopefully today, but I'll broaden that to "this week," just in case. *g*)

LOVE finally getting to see the bat dragons. The one on the bottom in particular is Too. Cute. I love how you managed to give it a batty nose and ears and yet still make it look like a dragon. Awesomeness. (Any thoughts on trying to make this a DragonCave concept, or is it going to stay within the context of your story?)

Servals are love, and the snarly one looks incredibly good. As one who has no talent with drawing animals whatsoever, I am Awed.

I am awfully fond of the way my little bat dragons are turning out. ^.^ The main difficulty at this point is settling into a consistent enough style.... (Hehe, I have thought a little about that possibility... Main thing holding me back is that I'm afraid the mammalian aspects might raise concerns it's "not dragon-y enough.")
