Yay for getting writing done!

Yep, I'm finally accomplishing something with my story for the SNWCG challenge! Not much, but still. I'm finding out I had more ideas than I thought I did, and I'm having fun. :D
And I'm actually managing to get art stuff done, too. Speaking of which, I could use some opinions... I finally got a sketch done of another pose I'd been thinking of for my male Long-Furred dragon, and rather like the way it turned out, but I'm still indecisive about whether I should use that one, or go back and fix up the legs/lower body in the first pose. What do y'all think?

Date: 2009-10-30 02:53 pm (UTC)Here's the female (for comparison): http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f132/Imbecamiel/Long-FurredDragon.jpg
Here's the first pose I did for the male (with just a doodle alongside it): http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f132/Imbecamiel/Long-FurredMale.jpg - this is the one that'd need more major fixing of the lower body.
And here's the new sketch for the male: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f132/Imbecamiel/LongFurredMale2.jpg
(Male and female are supposed to look different - she's larger, with longer fur, for keeping warm and protecting the nest, he's smaller, able to fly, designed for hunting.)
Are you familiar with Dragon Cave, btw? What I'm going to be doing with these is shrinking them down and turning them into 100x100 pixel sprites for the game. :)

Date: 2009-10-30 09:20 am (UTC)For my part, I love the way your new sketch turned out! The second set of horns looks great and the pose is very unique. The only problem I can think of might be that you can't see much of the furry wings here, since the sketch mainly shows the underside of the wings. I don't really know if that's a problem, though - it wouldn't be one for me. I actually like it that you get to see both sides of the wings when looking at the sketches for both genders. :).

Date: 2009-11-01 02:57 am (UTC)Oh, thank you! Yeah, I'd been thinking about his wings, and at this point I think he's going to have shorter fur on his wings than she does (since long fur just doesn't seem like it'd work so well with them for flying). So I think showing less of the topsides of his wings will be all right, since hers will be more interesting anyway. So yay, I'm very happy you think it'll be good! :D

(LOL, and yes, your stories have been veeery distracting. Very good distracting indeed, but nonetheless. *g* I'm gonna try to leave a review for you on "At Hope's Edge" later today. ;D )

Date: 2009-10-31 05:08 pm (UTC)Oo. OOooo. I really like the second concept sketch for the male. The first one is good too, but I love the combined effect of flight and a leap in the second one--it just seems to have more movement. (And it also seems to me that it might be easier to sprite-line than the first...? I have a feeling that if the first one went smaller, it might be difficult to distinguish its front legs at that angle.) Anywho...my two cents. :D Really love seeing these!

Date: 2009-11-01 03:52 am (UTC)Oh yay, I'm glad you like the new sketch! *bounce* Mmm, yeah, on both I was trying to keep certain dimensions in mind, to make the transition to sprite less complicated, but I think the second one would definitely be less difficult overall to do well. So since my thought is now confirmed... unless there's some great sudden outcry over on the forums, I think I'll be going with the second sketch. ;D
