'Cause [livejournal.com profile] cairistiona7 and [profile] ainu_laire are doing it... and I'm all about giving in to peer pressure! Plus, it looks like fun. *g*

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So ask me something you want to know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Go ahead 'n ask! Can't think of many topics off the top of my head that I'd consider off-limits (unless you want to know my Social Security number or something XD), but if you happen to hit upon one, I'll just... give you the fierce, scary face I've been practicing for karate. ;)

Give me your SSI, credit card number, and full name and address please.

... ok, in all seriousness, uhm... when did you first read LOTR? Who was your first favorite character and is he your favorite character today?

Question the second: How did you fall into the career you're pursuing today?

Eep! *eyes ScamArtist!Laire warily*

Hmm... when did I first read LOTR? Actually my dad first introduced me to it - he read The Hobbit to us as a family, back when I was eleven. (Good grief. That was slightly over eleven years ago, now. I've been a LOTR fan half my life!) We then listened to the dramatized version of LOTR immediately afterward, while we were on a long car trip. I read the books again for myself not too long after that. My favorite character? That would be Aragorn. *bg* In part, actually, because the first time through I somehow managed to entirely miss the whole tall elves thing. So yeah, I was picturing Legolas as the Santa type, which really... did not interest me at all. o.O Once I got that straight in my head, though, Legolas soon rose to become - well, I'd say pretty well tied with Aragorn for my favorite. Which one I prefer depends upon my mood on a given day. *g*

My career in editing? Heh, y'know, it was actually kind of an accident. Until relatively recently, there were two things I'd always known: I wanted to be a veterinarian, and I absolutely hated writing and everything to do with it. Loved reading, loathed writing. Then after Nef started writing fanfiction, and I started beta-ing it for her... Well, it grew on me, and by the time I had to re-evaluate some life priorities, and eventually decided that becoming a veterinarian might not fit with some of my more important goals, I realized that not only did I like editing, but I was good at it. One thing led to another, and through word of mouth and some rather miraculous provision, I've actually never had to apply for a job yet - the opportunities keep coming to me. So obviously it was what God intended. :)

Hehe, okay, so some wordy answers to fairly straightforward questions. *g*

Okey-dokey, I'll ask you a variation of what I've asked several people... if you could sit down over a cup of [insert beverage of your choice] and chat with anyone from history, who would you choose?

Hmm... Rather a tough one. Mainly because... well, the people I'd really love to talk with, I also know I'd be terribly intimidated by. *g* However - I think I would have to say C.S. Lewis. :)

That's true... the intimidation factor would be high for any of the people I'd want to talk to!

CS Lewis would definitely be interesting!

*takes one look at Cami's fierce, scary karate face and decides that she really doesn't need to know that Social Security number*

One dream you would like to see come true? :)

Hehe. *is scary*

A dream I'd like to see come true? Hmm... Do you mean literally something I've had a dream about, or more figuratively, desires or aspirations?

For the literal type of dream... I dream quite often that I can fly. That is something I would love very, very much. :)

As for desires and longings... To see Sue and her family come to God, and their family put back together again. That's the dream I would really love to see come true.

*hides* ;-)

The question was meant figuratively, sorry for not making that clear (though I really don't mind that I got two answers that way *g*).

That's funny, because I dream quite often that I can fly, too! Sometimes the dreams are so intense that I'm really disappointed when I wake up and notice it only was a dream. :) I would love to be able to fly, too!

I really, really hope that that dream will come true! *hugs*

What is your favorite animal and why; and do you now or have you owned one?

Hmm... *ponders* Actually a surprisingly difficult question. I love so many animals so much, I haven't really stopped to pick a favorite. :) If I really had to choose, though, I'd probably have to say that dogs are - I've loved them so long, read dozens of books on dog training for years before there was even the slightest practical chance of my getting one... And now I do finally have one. *hugs my sweet Strider*

But wait, I think I do know everything about you! *wracks brains* ;)

Okay...do you remember learning how to read, the actual process of being taught how? Do you remember what was one of the first books you read on your own? I ask because I always think it's really intriguing to hear how people recall that experience...some can, some can't. :)

LOL, exactly what I was thinking - when I saw you were doing the meme too, I started pondering what to ask you, and, of course, there must be things about you I don't know, but considering the number and variety of subjects we have covered... ;)

The process of learning to read? Yep, I do remember learning how to read. We used the "Sing, Spell, Read & Write" curriculum for a while, and I can still recall their alphabet song far too vividly. ;P It had ids own set of little books of increasing length and difficulty, and a chart with occasional small rewards (it came with some little plastic toys and such) when you'd made a certain amount of progress. Of course, I had a tendency to sit down and read three or four of those books in a row... *g* Yeah, didn't really take me long to develop a taste for reading. ;D
