imbecamiel: (Shep - Determination)

Ack!

Down to crunch time with my editing - nearly all of what I'm working on needs to be finished within the next few days. So, this is pretty much my mood at the moment:

funny pictures of cats with captions
more animals

Hehe. Okay, not really. More like: Aaahhh! Ican'tgetitalldoneintime! AAAAHHH! Ahem. No, I can. Really. I think. I hope. It is definitely times like these, however, that try my commitment not to work on Sundays. But if Eric Liddell could hold out when it came to the Olympics... ;)

Anyway. Don't feel like talking about editing anymore at the moment. So -

Very exciting news: Just found out yesterday that Nef has been chosen for "Best Side-kick of the Month" at karate! *is So Very Proud of her sis* For those who don't know, that'd refer to a particular kind of kick, not someone who hangs out with superheroes. ;)

Ah, and by the way, just in case you need any further proof of just how superior Minnesota is... Y'know the official Wisconsin state government website? Betcha can't guess what city's skyline was in the picture at the top of the page. Their state capital, Madison? Nope. Their biggest city, Milwaukee? Nope. Just so happens it was a picture of Minneapolis. *bg* Not even our state capitol, but the other half of our dear "Twin Cities." Yes, that does make me laugh very hard. ;D They eventually got it changed (just within the last couple days, I believe), but still. *pats poor Wisconsin, living in the shadow of our great state*

And I've been doing a bit of reading for breaks, lest my brain rebel utterly and refuse to participate any longer. Yes, I know, that is a somewhat odd choice for a change of pace. But... reading is how I relax. Especially when I have a really good book, which I did. Having finished The Thief and The Queen of Attolia, I have now completed The King of Attolia.

*is dead of utter awesomeness*

Seriously. Every time I'd think I was completely convinced that Eugenides was thoroughly awesome and I loved him, he'd come into the scene again and I'd realize... I adored him even more than I thought I did, and he's even cooler than I realized. Love, love, love, love, love. Want more. Very glad that I bought the books (except Thief, which wasn't as pressing since I'd finished it, but which I will be getting), because these are definitely ones to re-read. *sighs in the bliss of wonderful books*

Back to work!

*dies at the LOLcat* Yikes...editors can be...terrifying.... *shrinks from the Cami*

But really, I'll be praying. *huggles* Man, the deadlines do like to pounce all at once! Abi's going through the deadline crunch currently too, had actually just been saying yesterday that she'd never before felt like she was almost needing Sunday to get everything done. But I really do sincerely believe that the Lord gives more grace and really does bless us when we give that time to Him, even when we're feeling we don't have enough time in a day to do everything we need to get done. I've never yet studied on a Sunday, and never once have I bombed an 8 AM Monday test or failed to finish a paper because of it. *g* He really does bless that commitment, hard as it may be at times! (Particularly stressful times! :D)

(And you know, I'm always amazed at Eric Liddell's example. Heh, you know, if there'd ever be a time when you'd be inclined to fudge, it strikes me you might be inclined to make an excuse for something HUGE.... "But it's the Olympics! Surely, just this once...." Such an amazing example there. :) )

Eeee! I'm so glad you finished the Attolia books! *uses Attolia icon* (LOL, and I'm like you...stress prompts me to relax in the form of reading. :D) I cannot think of many books that have taken over my brain so thoroughly, or impressed me so much. I love everything about them...the characters, the writing style, the sheer genius of the plot-twists, and the dialogue.... I think one of my favorite scenes was that one at the end of King of Attolia, both the "I'm standing on one hand on a high balcony" part, and the whole sword-fight climax. *loves* Ah, Eugenides.... I seriously can't wait for more. Sounds like the next one's scheduled for 2010, or so says [community profile] sounis.

*hugs* Hope you have a good day, mellon-nin!

Ha! *snarls fiercely* Ah yes, I may be all nice and and gentle and all, but catch me on a bad day, and it's, "Just do as I say! Or... um... I know karate! And... I'll e-mail you a round kick to the head! So there. That ought to straighten you out." *bg*

Thanks so much for the prayers. *hugs back* God has indeed been faithful - as always. :) It is just... incredible, really, to see that blessing, at times when to all appearances there is no way everything'll get done without that time.

Oh yes. *incoherent squee of fannish delight* They're just so absolutely wonderful! Hehe, I kept bursting into giggles, which bugged Nef to no end, because I'd be sitting there laughing, she'd ask what I was laughing at, and I so desperately wanted to tell her, but just... couldn't... because it'd spoil things for her, and... all I could tell her was, "It's just so good!" And oh, those two parts were some of my favorites, too! (Rotfl, poor Eugenides, though - other mortals get epic, dramatic messages from the gods. He gets told to quit whining and go to bed. *gigglesnort*) Just - it's so awesome, when you just know he knows more than he's letting on, and yet just when you're getting to the point of, "Oh noes, things are getting out of hand, and someone's got to fix things/tell him of the evol plots/keep the baddies from foiling his plans!" you find out... just how much Gen actually knows/has planned for/has actually caused. And it's just incredible how he can be so simultaneously hilarious and pathetic and awesome. *adores* Sooo looking forward to more. *bounces in anticipation* (And ooo, yes, I must check out sounis, now that I've got time! *puts on her to-do list*)

*hugs you*

I love that picture - it should definitely keep anyone from messing with stressed editors. ;-) I hope you'll be able to get all your work done in time and without too much stress, mellon-nin. :)

*hugs back* Thanks mellon-nin.

Hehe, it is a very fun picture. ;) As much as I truly enjoy editing, it is not often that I get to that state, but every once in a while there are a few people/circumstances/moments of particular stress... *g* But yes, I was able to get all the time-pressured stuff finished and safely on its way - now I'm just on the finishing stages of a few much more relaxed projects. So yaaay! :D
