While on vacation, Neffie and I saw a couple necklaces that gave us ideas for things we wanted to try, one of them being a little journal-on-a-chain-type thing. Only we decided to make it smaller, should be a bit sturdier because of the way it's constructed, and, of course, we had to give it a little aged, steampunk touch. *g*

After finally gathering the materials we'd need, we had our first trial run on making them today, and it's looking promising!

\o/ Heheh, the process of figuring out how to do it all was pretty time-consuming, and we definitely need to get some proper leatherworking needles (I think my poor fingers have more holes in them than the leather does XD). So this one's a little rougher than I'd hope future versions would be, but still. Yay for teeny things! We've already got a couple more partially completed, in different colors, so here's hoping the final assembly on those goes a little more smoothly.

That is so cute!! *wants*

Will you be selling this via your website? And speaking of, is your website up and going and providing you with customers?

Thank you! Yep, we are planning to be selling some of these through our site. If we can get the assembly streamlined a bit, we're thinking they'll be within our usual price range, about $20-$25. :)

And yes, we actually just got everything moved to our new permanent site - - and had our grand opening earlier this month. It's starting to get rolling. We were actually just contacted by a local shop (very neat place - actually a renovated old train depot) that's interested in potentially carrying some of our jewelry. We're going to be meeting with the owner, so... we shall see what comes of that!

Oh, you had a grand opening and everything! Did you post about it or did I just miss it?? At any rate, congrats!

*heads to the website to check it out*

Sooooo many pretty pieces! I especially liked the "Shining Swallow" on your flickr photostream, but you know, I think I love this little journal one the best--it appeals to the writer in me. :) Let me know when you have it available for purchase!

I should've thought about saying something here! We had the grand opening a few days after we left on vacation (timed to coincide with a magazine article about us that was coming out), so we were scrambling to get everything ready and put up announcements on our various social media pages, trying to get last-minute links and information for the magazine's owner, while packing for the trip... I guess LJ just wound up slipping through the cracks.

Thank you! We've been having so much fun working on all of them. And I will let you know! I think we should have a few variations ready to go up early next week, so there'll probably be several different colors.

Thank you! We've just been having a ton of fun working on all the jewelry. It's been particularly nice working on figuring it all out together, because it seems like most of the time our skills complement each other well - whatever one of us doesn't want to do, or can't figure out, the other's good at. :)

Oh, that is nice. Did you guys glue the little gear onto the front? It's so clean and neat with no marks at all!

Thank you! Nope, not glue, it's actually sewn on, but the dark thread blends in with the leather quite well. ^^
